I mostly work improving educational material for courses in data visualization, data science ethics, and introductory machine learning. Currently I’m exploring how we can make educational resources more engaging via interactive textbooks and how to leverage generative AI in education, e.g. by developing more exciting narrratives for students and designing assignments that encourage collaboration with AI systems. I’m also thinking about how to incorporate meaningful data sets in my education material and how to spread data literacy beyond traditional data-laden disciplines.
Outside my teaching interests I am a regular contributor on StackOverflow and one of the core developers of Altair, a fun and powerful Python package for interactive data visualization.
